New Star Wars Book Line Announced

Disney Publishing Worldwide has announced that a new line of Star Wars novels are too be published via Del Rey Books.

The first title in the new series is titled “Star Wars: A New Dawn.” It will take place before the events of the upcoming “Star Wars Rebels” animated series. It tells the story of how two of the series’ heroes, Kanan Jarrus andHera Syndulla, came to cross paths. That book, which is receiving input from Rebels exec producers Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weismanwill be released in print and digitally on September 2, 2014.

Several more titles were also announced as part of the Star Wars fiction line.

“Star Wars: Tarken” will be available November 4. It  delves into the life of the Empire’s most notorious Grand Moff.

Kevin Hearne’s “Star Wars: Heir to the Jedi” will be available January 2015. It is Luke Skywalker’s first-person account of the events between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back.

Paul Kemp’s “Star Wars: Lords of the Sith” will be available March 2015. The novel finds Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader stranded on an inhospitable planet, where they must rely solely on each other, the Force, and their awesome martial skills to prevail.

Disney Publishing SVP Jeanne Mouser said,

“With the establishment of the Lucasfilm Story Group and our even greater focus on unified storytelling, we expect our entire publishing program to be stronger and more meaningful than ever before.

As previously announced, existing Star Wars novels will remain in circulation, presented under the new Star Wars Legends banner.
