New Trailer for Star Wars Spin Off “Rogue One” Released

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has officially released the final trailer and it revealed some pretty interesting information regarding the plot of the upcoming spin off. Check out the trailer above!

In the final trailer we get a glimpse into the reasons why Jyn Erso is so crucial to the Rebel Alliance’s plans to steal the plans for the Death Star. It turns out her father built the damned thing.

Rogue One takes place after Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope. It focuses on the team tasked with stealing the plans for the first Death Star that are so instrumental to the original Star Wars from 1977.

Many fans have been concerned about the fact that Rogue One had gone through reshoots during production but based on this trailer, it doesn’t appear that too much has been altered in terms of tone and feel from the first trailer we saw.

Just a few more months before we see this rag tag team’s story play out even though we know how it ends.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Needs Reshoots

Rogue-One-A-Star-Wars-Story-logo

The upcoming “Star Wars” spinoff film, Rogue One, is stuck doing reshoots in mid-June for four more weeks. Thankfully the reshoots do not delay the release of the film on December 16.

According to the website, Uproxx, reshoots were already scheduled in June for Rogue One. However, the reasoning behind the reshoots for Rogue One has now been clarified. Reportedly, Disney decided the project needed the reshoots after watching the rough cut of the film. They decided it didn’t give off the feeling that other “classic” Star Wars movies had. Per The Hollywood Reporter, one viewer described Rogue One as “having the feel of a war movie.” Deadline is also reporting that the reshoots are being done because producers thought that Rogue One needed more of an edge, closer to what Force Awakens had.

There have also been rumors that the reshoots give Rogue One a chance to add a cameo by young Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich, to the plotline.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens also had three weeks of reshoots during its production.

Star Wars Battlefront Sequel Coming Next Year

star wars

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the sequel game to “Star Wars Battlefront” is in development and scheduled for release next year! Even better news was the upcoming game will feature content from the new movies!

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that the “Star Wars Battlefront” sequel will have bigger and better worlds.” The first game only included content from the original Star Wars trilogy but Jorgensen confirmed the sequel will include content from the prequels and Episode VII. He did not confirm if it would include anything from Episodes VIII and IX, or the planned spinoffs Rogue One and the untitled Han Solo standalone (which just cast its star).

It is important to note that the term “next year” could refer  to either the next calendar year (2017) or EA’s next fiscal year (2018), which means we are still pretty unsure on when the next game will come out.

EA added that the company expects to release a Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years which is a pretty lofty goal.

Jorgensen also confirmed that the action game from Visceral and Motive Studios will also be coming out next year, in addition to an expected release of Respawn’s third-person action-adventure Star Wars game. Neither game has a release date at the moment.

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Bonus Releases on iTunes!

Rey

If you were a fan of Star Wars: Force Awakens and let’s face it YOU WERE, you will definitely want to see the new bonus feature released on iTunes called “Dressing the Galaxy.”

“Dressing the Galaxy” is available as an iTunes Extras Exclusive for fans who buy or own Star Wars: The Force Awakens on iTunes! Fans will get the whole story of how Rey got her look and learn more about their favorite character’s costumes.

Costume designer Michael Kaplan and his team explains how many different elements came together in creating the look for Rey.

“We knew she was going to be in a world of men doing things like climbing and dealing with rocket parts and living this Spartan life, so we had to make her practical, but we also wanted a glimmer of femininity about her,” says Kaplan. “I also knew there were going to be sandstorms and dust, so I wanted the character to be in light colors. It also felt right for her emotionally and for the desert. It also felt very Star Wars especially when you look back at Luke and Leia.”

He went on to explain how everything was put into her costume for a reason.

“We eventually gave her a wrap, which could protect her face against dust storms […] it gives her a very beautiful image when all the pieces are put together. Rey wears the costume throughout the film, although we had 25 copies made and about 12 pairs of boots.”

Check out a clip from the bonus feature about Rey’s look below! Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now available on Digital HD on iTunes.

Rogue One has an impressive cast including Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk.

Upcoming Star Wars Movie Schedule

Star_Wars_The_Force_Awakens

With Episode VII under our belts, we have a lot to look forward in the “Star Wars” universe. “The Force Awakens” was beautiful and everything we deserved after the sub-par prequels and if that film is any indication of what we have ahead of us then we have several amazing years in store.

Check out the schedule of all the films and spin-offs so you know exactly what to be excited for.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The first “Star Wars” spin off film is set to be directed by the Godzilla director Gareth Edwards. Rogue One will tell a story that exists between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, where Rebel Alliance soldiers work to steal the plans to the original Death Star.

Release Date: December 16, 2016

Star Wars: Episode VIII

The sequel to “The Force Awakens”/Episode VII. J.J. Abrams bows out and passes torch to Rian Johnson, who is directing the next main story installment. Knowing what we know from Force, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Snoke (Andy Serkis) will continue to make life difficult for Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and ace pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Benicio Del Toro recently snagged a role but details haven’t been released regarding who he will be playing (we are guessing dark side? ) Much like Episode VII we are guessing they will stay mum on storyline.

Release Date: May 26, 2017

Young Han Solo Movie

The details here are even more scarce if you can believe it. We know that Disney is planning a Han Solo movie, and they’ve hired a few creative voices for development but that is about it. Lawrence Kasdan will co-write the script, while 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie wizards Phil Lord and Chris Miller will share the director’s chair. No one has been hired to PLAY young Solo yet. Chris Pratt maybe???

Release Date: May 25, 2018

Star Wars: Episode IX

This is pretty far in the future and therefor at the moment all we know about Star Wars: Episode IX is that it will conclude the trilogy started in The Force Awakens, and it will be helmed by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.  He’ll have access to Force stars like Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. If anyone else makes it through all three movies has yet to be revealed.

Release Date: 2019

A Boba Fett Movie

How could anyone NOT want a bounty hunter movie? Due to complications during development this spinoff is still in development limbo unfortunately but Disney is still highly motivated to make it happen. However, they are also not rushed considering how many years ahead they are already booked.

Release Date: Rumored for 2020
