Upcoming Star Wars Movie Schedule

Star_Wars_The_Force_Awakens

With Episode VII under our belts, we have a lot to look forward in the “Star Wars” universe. “The Force Awakens” was beautiful and everything we deserved after the sub-par prequels and if that film is any indication of what we have ahead of us then we have several amazing years in store.

Check out the schedule of all the films and spin-offs so you know exactly what to be excited for.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The first “Star Wars” spin off film is set to be directed by the Godzilla director Gareth Edwards. Rogue One will tell a story that exists between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, where Rebel Alliance soldiers work to steal the plans to the original Death Star.

Release Date: December 16, 2016

Star Wars: Episode VIII

The sequel to “The Force Awakens”/Episode VII. J.J. Abrams bows out and passes torch to Rian Johnson, who is directing the next main story installment. Knowing what we know from Force, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Snoke (Andy Serkis) will continue to make life difficult for Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and ace pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Benicio Del Toro recently snagged a role but details haven’t been released regarding who he will be playing (we are guessing dark side? ) Much like Episode VII we are guessing they will stay mum on storyline.

Release Date: May 26, 2017

Young Han Solo Movie

The details here are even more scarce if you can believe it. We know that Disney is planning a Han Solo movie, and they’ve hired a few creative voices for development but that is about it. Lawrence Kasdan will co-write the script, while 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie wizards Phil Lord and Chris Miller will share the director’s chair. No one has been hired to PLAY young Solo yet. Chris Pratt maybe???

Release Date: May 25, 2018

Star Wars: Episode IX

This is pretty far in the future and therefor at the moment all we know about Star Wars: Episode IX is that it will conclude the trilogy started in The Force Awakens, and it will be helmed by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.  He’ll have access to Force stars like Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. If anyone else makes it through all three movies has yet to be revealed.

Release Date: 2019

A Boba Fett Movie

How could anyone NOT want a bounty hunter movie? Due to complications during development this spinoff is still in development limbo unfortunately but Disney is still highly motivated to make it happen. However, they are also not rushed considering how many years ahead they are already booked.

Release Date: Rumored for 2020
