Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the sequel game to “Star Wars Battlefront” is in development and scheduled for release next year! Even better news was the upcoming game will feature content from the new movies!
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that the “Star Wars Battlefront” sequel will have “bigger and better worlds.” The first game only included content from the original Star Wars trilogy but Jorgensen confirmed the sequel will include content from the prequels and Episode VII. He did not confirm if it would include anything from Episodes VIII and IX, or the planned spinoffs Rogue One and the untitled Han Solo standalone (which just cast its star).
It is important to note that the term “next year” could refer to either the next calendar year (2017) or EA’s next fiscal year (2018), which means we are still pretty unsure on when the next game will come out.
EA added that the company expects to release a Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years which is a pretty lofty goal.
Jorgensen also confirmed that the action game from Visceral and Motive Studios will also be coming out next year, in addition to an expected release of Respawn’s third-person action-adventure Star Wars game. Neither game has a release date at the moment.
