Jack White Releasing First Elvis Record for Record Store Day

Jack White, or as I like to call him the self established Marquis of Nashville, Tennessee, spends his days doing the stuff that matters. Like hiding one of a kind records in furniture he made or in this case purchasing Elvis Presley’s first single.

According to a report from Stererogum, White purchased Presley’s first single at an auction earlier this year for $300,000. The single was first released in 1953 and includes two covers of popular 1930’s tracks “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartache Begins.”

The plan is to reissue the famous single for the Record Store Day an event across the nation where people flock to record stores to buy music in an effort to preserve not only the store but non-digital music as well.

White’s label, Third Man Records is notorious, especially in Nashville, for his Record Store Day promotions. Last year, he released a 7-inch record for the day. The Third Man Records Elvis single release on April 18.
