Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Needs Reshoots

The upcoming “Star Wars” spinoff film, Rogue One, is stuck doing reshoots in mid-June for four more weeks. Thankfully the reshoots do not delay the release of the film on December 16.

According to the website, Uproxx, reshoots were already scheduled in June for Rogue One. However, the reasoning behind the reshoots for Rogue One has now been clarified. Reportedly, Disney decided the project needed the reshoots after watching the rough cut of the film. They decided it didn’t give off the feeling that other “classic” Star Wars movies had. Per The Hollywood Reporter, one viewer described Rogue One as “having the feel of a war movie.” Deadline is also reporting that the reshoots are being done because producers thought that Rogue One needed more of an edge, closer to what Force Awakens had.

There have also been rumors that the reshoots give Rogue One a chance to add a cameo by young Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich, to the plotline.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens also had three weeks of reshoots during its production.
