Archer Renewed for 3 More Seasons

The hit FX animated comedy, “Archer” has officially been renewed for three more seasons! That is quite a large renewal contract BUT the seasons will only be 8 episodes long rather than the 13 episode most seasons have gotten in the past. The news was announced by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions.

“Archer” is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around a former spy agency turned private investigation firm and the lives of its employees. The Figgis Agency presented all new challenges for the former spies in Season 7, the most difficult of which might have been the move to Los Angeles. Every seedy surveillance of a suspected adulterer or investigation into insurance fraud was actually just another excuse for the staff to undermine, sabotage and betray each other for personal gain.

“We can’t say enough about what Adam, Matt and the entire Archer team at Floyd County have done to keep this series so insanely funny and vital through seven seasons,” said Grad. “The move to Los Angeles this past season as private detectives was just the latest twist in Archer’s legendary exploits and the next three seasons will to be just as amazing and unpredictable. We are thrilled to continue making great TV with our friends and colleagues at Floyd County.”

The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer, Aisha Tyler as Lana Kane, Jessica Walter as Malory Archer, Chris Parnell as Cyril Figgis; Judy Greer as Cheryl/Carol Amber Nash as Pam Poovey; Adam Reed as Ray Gillette; and Lucky Yates as Krieger.

The series was created by Adam Reed and Floyd County Productions and is executive produced by Reed and Matt Thompson. The show is produced by FX Productions.

Jon Hamm Could Play Archer in Live-Action Film

The hit FX animated series “Archer” could be heading towards a live action film and even better JON HAMM could be playing Sterling Archer. Matt Thompson told The Daily Beast he wants Hamm to play the titular character should the animated series go to live action film.

Hamm pretty much looks JUST LIKE Archer even though the voice is all H. Jon Benjamin.

“It’s Jon Hamm,” says Thompson, firmly. “If Archer goes live-action, I do believe it will be Jon Hamm. Maybe you could do it with Jon Benjamin’s voice coming out of him? I don’t know. Adam is always like, ‘I don’t know if I want the movie to be live-action because I want it to be Jon Benjamin!’ But if it is live-action—and if it is not Jon Benjamin—it is our greatest hope that it would be Jon Hamm. I can say that with confidence.”

However, Thompson added that there probably won’t be a movie as long as the series. “Archer” just aired its Season 7 finale.

“Archer” features the voices of Benjamin as the highly-skilled and incredibly vain master spy, Sterling Archer; Aisha Tyler as Archer’s fellow agent and ex-girlfriend, Lana Kane; Jessica Walter as Archer’s domineering mother and spy agency director, Malory Archer; Chris Parnell as the easily intimidated comptroller-turned secret agent, Cyril Figgis; Judy Greer as Malory’s loquacious, dingbat secretary, Cheryl; Amber Nash as the discordant director of human resources, Pam Poovey; Adam Reed as the gay voice of reason, Ray Gillette; and Lucky Yates as the spy agency’s possibly mad scientist/ possibly clone of himself, Krieger.

Currently there are no concrete plans to get a live action film but there are talks and that is a big deal.

FX Renews “Archer” For Season 6 and Season 7

FX obviously knows when not to cancel a good show (are you listening FOX?). The network has renewed their animated spy comedy series “Archer” for not just one but two more seasons. This means Sterling Archer and gang will grace our television sets for a 6th and 7th season.

Each of the two seasons will consist of 13 episodes, and will bring the show into the year 2016. “Archer” is currently in the middle of its fifth season.

President of original programming for FX, Eric Schrier said:

“Archer is one of the best comedies on television and has played a significant role in the growth of the FX comedy brand. We’re grateful to Adam Reed, Matt Thompson and their team at Floyd County, and also our incredible voice cast, and are looking forward to supporting their work for at least two more seasons.”

Archer follows egotistical international spy Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) and the people he works with at ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service), including his mother and boss Malory (Jessica Walters) and ex-lover and fellow spy Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler). Along with Walters, the show has several other “Arrested Development” alums including Jeffrey Tambor and Judy Greer.

Archer Promotes Fifth Season by Posting Nudes on Reddit’s GoneWild

If there is one cartoon cast of characters I want to see naked, it would be FX’s “Archer.” If you also have that desire, you are (kind of) in luck. To help promote their upcoming 5th season, the cast of the animated series posted nude pictures on Reddit’s exhibitionist subreddit /r/gonewild.

Unfortunately, they are just ads and not actual posts (so no actual tits and dicks, sorry guys.) You can see the ads below.

Archer is back in action next Monday, January 13.
