See the Concept Images of Disneyland’s Star Wars-Themed Park

Disneyland has been teasing their upcoming “Star Wars” themed park addition since they bought the franchise and we finally have some concept art!

The Disney Parks Blog debuted the first concept images at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. today. The picture encompasses the entire 14-acre area and is the largest single movie-themed land in all of the Disney resorts.

The images were first spotted on the fence along Big Thunder Trail in Frontierland, which will be the location of one of the park’s entry points. The blog refers to it as a “never-before-seen planet in the Star Wars galaxy.” The blog says the park will contain “markets, landing zones and buildings,” and the parked Millennium Falcon means that visitors will be able to climb aboard and channel their inner Han Solo.

Star Wars land isn’t opening up anytime soon but they do seem to be moving forward.

Starbucks to Open 20,000 Square Foot Store in New York in 2018

Since most people seem to LOVE coffee and artisan coffee joints are becoming the new favorite, Starbucks has announced plans to expand their shops into more of a Roastery according to a new announcement.

In 2018, the coffee mega giant has plans to create a 20,000 square foot Roastery-branded store (the largest Starbucks ever.) The Roastery will open the new store in New York’s Meatpacking District at 61 Ninth Ave., near the Chelsea Market. The store will serve as a combination of a roasting facility and cafe that educates customers on the coffee-making process, from brewing to bean origins.

The Roastery will cater to all types of customers and offer many different types of coffee experiences as well as continue to increase growth for the franchise.

Starbucks’ Chief Executive Officer Howard Schultz released a statement on Tuesday where he expressed his desire to eventually have the new Roastery store model expand throughout the U.S. and eventually globally.

The Starbucks Roastery is not opening to the public until 2018.

A Study Reveals the Top 8 Cities For Cat Lovers

This study is the exact validation I needed to solidify a decision to one day move to Seattle. It is validation for both cat ladies and men who love cats looking for a lady who loves cats too.

Recently, a study was done by Nielsen Scarborough where they compiled enough information to accurately determine where the most cat ladies live. The Seattle Times reported that 400,696 people across the country were surveyed on their lifestyle between Feb. 2013 and March 2015. There are almost double the amount of single females than single males that own a cat.

And hey, this is  good news for anyone who loves cats because these are really the cities you will find fellow companions who love your feline friend as much as you do.

Here are the top cities for cat ladies, according to the percentage of single women living with cats.

Dismaland: Banksy Creates Desolate ‘Bemusement Park’

Banksy is up to something and it is amazing. The famous street artist had taken a hiatus for years from his signature style and now we may know why. He created his own version of Disneyland dubbed: Dismaland.

He created the world in a seaside town called Weston-super-Mare in southwest England. He describes Dismaland as being a “bemusement park” and in fact he says it is the ” world’s first.” The art installation is an intense and often disturbing reimagining of Disneyland.

The park’s website labels it “a festival of art, amusements and entry-level anarchism,” and offers something close to a mission statement when it asks:

Are you looking for an alternative to the sugar-coated tedium of the average family day out? Or just somewhere a lot cheaper? Then this is the place for you. Bring the whole family to come and enjoy the latest addition to our chronic leisure surplus…

The fine print at the bottom of the site emphasizes Dismaland’s abnormalities, while also name-checking Disney directly. He is basically asking nay daring the oft litigious company to sue.

Contains uneven floor surfaces, extensive use of strobe lighting, imagery unsuitable for small children and swearing. The following are strictly prohibited in the Park—spray paint, marker pens, knives and legal representatives of the Walt Disney Corporation.

The park features three galleries of other artists as well. It has more than 50 artists from 17 countries, including Damien Hirst, Jenny Holzer and Banksy himself, along with other, lesser-known artists. Many of the artists exhibited share a common, postmodern distaste towards the establishment.

“[Disney] is vulnerable, to me,” featured artist Jeff Gillette told CNN. “They’re such a big presence and such a big part of culture and symbolic of so many things. It’s hard not [sic] fuck with them.”

It goes even further. Dismaland hosts live events every Friday night for tourists including shows by Run the Jewels, Pussy Riot and Massive Attack, among others.

Dismaland is open from Aug. 22 to Sept. 27, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is just £3 (about $5) and visitors under five get in free. The park’s capacity is limited, so visitors are encouraged to book a time slot for guaranteed entry. You can (attempt to) do so here but web traffic has been a nightmare much like the park itself.

Find out more at Dismaland’s website here. See more images from inside Dismaland here via The Guardian.

Final Fantasy Themed Restaurant Found in Tokyo

Earlier this year, Tokyo opened the second coolest themed restaurant in the world. The newly opened “Final Fantasy” themed restaurant is attracting tourists from all over the world. The restaurant is a joint collaboration between the Pasela Resorts company and Square Enix, and is called Eorzea Cafe.

The Eorza Cafe can be found in the Akihabara district of Tokyo and is specifically based on the world of Final Fantasy XIV. Game director Naoki Yoshida was on hand to help celebrate the cafe’s opening, and even tended bar for lucky fans of both the game and alcohol.

The inside of the restaurant is decorated with swords found in the game and even Moogles because of course there are.

The cafe’s official website can be found here, but it’s entirely in Japanese

The Cabin In The Woods Comes To Life As A Haunted House Attraction

Cabin in the Woods is easily one of my favorite horror films and up there in terms of how much I love Joss Whedon. The idea of actually living it sounds terrifying. However, that option is about to become a reality. Universal Orlando is adding the titular cabin as part of its  23rd annual Halloween Horror Nights event, which runs on and off from the end of September until November 2.
