New Trailer for Star Wars Spin Off “Rogue One” Released

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has officially released the final trailer and it revealed some pretty interesting information regarding the plot of the upcoming spin off. Check out the trailer above!

In the final trailer we get a glimpse into the reasons why Jyn Erso is so crucial to the Rebel Alliance’s plans to steal the plans for the Death Star. It turns out her father built the damned thing.

Rogue One takes place after Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope. It focuses on the team tasked with stealing the plans for the first Death Star that are so instrumental to the original Star Wars from 1977.

Many fans have been concerned about the fact that Rogue One had gone through reshoots during production but based on this trailer, it doesn’t appear that too much has been altered in terms of tone and feel from the first trailer we saw.

Just a few more months before we see this rag tag team’s story play out even though we know how it ends.

Actress/Political Activist Rosario Dawson Arrested During Capitol Hill Demonstration

Rosario Dawson Capitol Demonstration

Rosario Dawson who has been one of the more politically active celebrities was recently arrested during a demonstration on Capital Hill last Friday along with several dozen other protesters. Dawson was given a $50 fine for crowding and obstruction before being released from police custody.

According to a report from The Guardian, the protesters had been warned repeatedly by the U.S. Capitol police before they were eventually arrested and taken into custody. Dawson is not expected to appear before court.

“I wanted personally to be in solidarity with the other folks who put themselves on the line and really just to bring attention to this because I think that’s just vitally important,” Dawson said of the event and following arrests.

Despite the arrest, Dawson remained very respectful of the police. She said,

“The police were really great with us, really lovely,” Dawson said. “I have to say that is not the case for so many people: Dreamers, Black Lives Matter activists, so many people are not seeing this kind of courageousness. I hope that officers across the nation can take heed of that and recognize that the peaceful protests that are going around the nation should also be treated in the same way as we are being treated today.”

Dawson has previously worked with Voto Latino and she makes appearances each year at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. She mostly recently introduced Bernie Sanders at one of his political rallies.

As for her acting roles, Dawson is most recently appeared as Claire Temple in the Marvel and Netflix shows DaredevilJessica Jones and upcoming Luke Cage.

Making A Murderer Season 2 Is Coming

If you left the last episode of “Making a Murderer” feeling exasperated, angry, and infuriated than you are in luck? Netflix has announced a second season is on the way.

According to the announcement, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, the directors of the docuseries are working on a follow up season as well as have been in contact with criminal attorney Kathleen Zellner as well as Avery himself.

“From our perspective this story is obviously not over,” Ricciardi said. “It’s real life and (Avery’s and Brendan Dassey’s) cases are both still pending. We have no idea when the magistrate will make a decision in Brendan’s case. We do know that two potential outcomes are that the judge could order Brendan’s release or he could order a new trial. So we are on the edge of seats about that. To the extent that there are significant developments, we would like to continue documenting this (case).”

As you may expect the citizens of Manitowoc County don’t look fondly upon “Making a Murderer,” Stephen Avery, or Ricciardi and Demos because of the way they feel their state was portrayed in Season 1.

“There is a lot of hostility toward these two women (Ricciardi and Demos) in Wisconsin,” said Stephen M. Glynn, Avery’s civil lawyer, during a recent film panel in New York City. “The theory is that [they] have played Wisconsin unfairly. But among those people who think and are a little more educated and thoughtful about these sorts of issues, there is appreciation.”

However, guess who HAS profited from the being portrayed unfavorably in the series?  self-admitted “dick” DA Ken Kratz. Who doesn’t want to punch this smug asshole right? Well apparently, we still all want to know what he really knows or has to say because he has gotten a book out of the situation.

There is also a rumor spinning out in the mill that a movie is on the brink. Doug Schneider writes at the Green Bay Press Gazette that the local betting shop BoyleSports is taking bids on which actors could play Avery, including Billy Bob Thornton, Danny McBride, Kiefer Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Jeff Bridges, and even Leonardo DiCaprio, who just won an Oscar for almost getting raped by a bear.

Lonely Island Getting Sketch Comedy Show At FOX

The musical comedy trio known as Lonely Island has signed on for their own comedy series according to a report from Variety. The group has given us such gems as “I’m on a Boat” and a beautiful number about pirates of the Caribbean with Michael Bolton.

The new series, titled “Party Over Here” will be executive produced by Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, Party Over Here will tackle everything from pop culture to politics, and feature comedy shorts alongside in-studio segments filmed in front of a live audience.

“When we first conceived this idea, we thought of it as a spinoff of Empire,” said The Lonely Island in a statement. “We failed miserably… now it’s much more of a sketch comedy show.”

Back in 2014, The Lonely Island signed a deal to develop potential Fox and FX comedies for digital platforms. This new production appears to be a direct result of that deal.

Nicole Byer (Girl Code), Jessica McKenna (Riot) and Alison Rich (Resident Advisors) are slated to star in the half-hour show, while Samberg, Schaffer, Taccone, Paul Scheer (The League) and Billy Rosenberg are serving as executive producers. One assumes they would also appear on screen at some point.

“The late-night landscape is wildly competitive, and we thought long and hard about the kind of audacious, attention-getting voices we needed,” said David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Andy, Akiva, Jorma, Paul and our three stars—Nicole, Jessica and Alison—are the ideal group of talent to do just that. They’re fearless, original and, of course, very, very funny.”

Party Over Here debuts Saturday, March 12 at 11 p.m., on Fox.

Season Two of Serial is HERE

Season 2 of “Serial” is here!!!!!! Rejoice! The highly anticipated sophomore season of the popular podcast released yesterday morning ready to tell us the story of of Bowe Bergdahl, a U.S. Army sergeant who was held captive by the Taliban for five years after wandering off his base in Afghanistan.

The show’s host, Sarah Koening, takes over as she explains the uncertainty behind surrounds Bergdahl’s disappearance, and his return.

The New Yorker has a full recap of episode one here (if you like spoilers.) Here’s the full synopsis of season two, from the Serial site:

In May 2014, a U.S. Special Operations team in a Black Hawk helicopter landed in the hills of Afghanistan. Waiting for them were more than a dozen Taliban fighters and a tall American, who looked pale and out of sorts: Bowe Bergdahl. Bergdahl, a U.S. soldier, had been a prisoner of the Taliban for nearly five years, and now he was going home.

President Obama announced Bergdahl’s return in the Rose Garden, with the soldier’s parents at his side. Bergdahl’s hometown of Hailey, Idaho, planned a big celebration to welcome him back. But then, within days—within hours of his rescue, in fact—public reaction to his return flipped. People started saying Bergdahl shouldn’t be celebrated. Some of the soldiers from his unit called him a deserter, a traitor. They said he had deliberately walked off their small outpost in eastern Afghanistan and into hostile territory.

Hailey canceled its celebration. The army launched an investigation. Finally, in March, the military charged Bergdahl with two crimes, one of which carries the possibility of a life sentence. Through all of this, Bergdahl has been quiet. He hasn’t spoken to the press or done any interviews on TV. He’s been like a ghost at the center of a raucous fight.

Now, in Season Two, we get to hear what he has to say.

For this season, Sarah Koenig teams up with filmmaker Mark Boal and Page 1 to find out why one idiosyncratic guy decided to walk away, into Afghanistan, and how the consequences of that decision have spun out wider and wider. It’s a story that has played out in unexpected ways from the start. And it’s a story that’s still going on.

Watch the Trailer for Horror Movie The Final Girls

The Final Girls is not your typical horror movie. It is full of classic horror movie tropes, cliches, and perfect moments.

The story follows Max Cartwright (American Horror Story’s Taissa Farmiga), a girl grieving the loss of her mother (Malin Akerman), who just so happened to be a famous actress of the slasher genre in the ‘80s. Max goes to see one of her mom’s films with a group of her friends (a motley crew made up of Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev, Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat, The Hunger Games’ Alexander Ludwig and Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch), only to be trapped in a fiery theater, forced to exit through a slit in the theater screen. This somehow magically transports the gang into the real-time events of the movie, where the millennials are surrounded by soon-to-be murdered young people of the ‘80s, who have no idea they’re in a film and whose dialogue is cornier than that in a Babysitter’s Club novel.

The best part of the movie is that while it seems to make fun of all the cheesy aspects of the genre it also obeys them to a tee. However, it gets more meta the more you dig such as the casting. Ludwig being cast as one of the friends when he was in another meta/horror film earlier this year titled Final Girl.

The Final Girls premieres Oct. 9. You can watch the trailer below:
