According to the PlayStation Blog, customers who place a pre-order for “Beyond: Two Souls” at Gamestop before the October 8th launch, the game will be upgraded to the special edition for free. “Beyond: Two Souls” stars actors Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe.
The game, which features psychological, spiritual, and thriller elements, is centered around questions about what happens after death. The game lets the player take Jodie Holmes through 15 years of her life (ages 8 through 23) on a journey to discover the true meaning of the entity Aiden, who has been alongside her throughout her life. The game’s producer noted that players might be able to find out “what lies beyond” after playing it.
The Special Edition includes a 30-minute scene focused on guiding protagonist Jodie and her ghostly friend Aiden through a series of test-room puzzles. A soundtrack consisting of the game’s four themes will also be paired with “making-of” videos featuring Ellen Page, Willem Dafoe and Beyond‘s writer, David Cage. A dynamic theme for the PS3 and PSN avatars round out the offering, all of which will be packaged in the Special Edition’s metal case.
