::::: Spoilers Ahead :::::
It is not uncommon for television show’s to kill off a major character after being on air for a spell. As fans learned this past weekend, “Family Guy” is no different. On the most recent episode, the show said goodbye to the family pet, Brian Griffin. However, some fans don’t think it was the right choice and mere hours after his death via a car, a petition began circulating online for the revival of the smart-ass dog. Since then it has quickly become the top entertainment petition on Change.org.
During Sunday’s “Life of Brian” episode of “Family Guy,” the series killed off Brian, when he was struck by a car and run over as he prepared to play in the street with Stewie. Ultimately, his injuries were too severe, and he could not be saved. To tie up loose ends, even Stewie’s time machine was in disrepair causing him to be unable to save Brian’s life.
Aaron Thompson of Tuscaloosa, Al., launched the Change.org petition early Monday and within hours, the effort calling for the beloved dog voiced by MacFarlane to be brought back to life had already collected 1,500 signatures.
“Brian Griffin was an important part of our viewing experience,” Thompson wrote on the site. “He added a witty and sophisticated element to the show. Family Guy and Fox Broadcasting will lose viewers if Brian Griffin is not brought back to the show.”
The petition links to a Facebook page — RIP Brian Griffin From Family Guy — that has already amassed more than 91,000 likes.
Series creator, Seth MacFarlane, and the show’s producers have not yet spoken out about the decision to have Brian killed but shortly after the episode concluded Sunday, Fox paid tribute to Brian with a short video.

He (Brian) will always be the best thing about the show. Stewie MUST find a way to repair the time machine. I mean who else will hump the leg of Lois. Brian will NEVER rest jn peace.
