Spoils of Babylon Renewed for Season 2

spoils-

IFC has officially ordered a second season of the series “The Spoils of Babylon” from Will Ferrel and Adam McKay.” The series is spoof of the 1970’s novel-based miniseries. It starred Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig with several high-profile quest stars smattered throughout the first season.

Season two is set to premiere in the Summer of 2015 with six new episodes. It will be produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele and Nate Young.

Ferrell will return as fictional author Eric Jonrosh who opens and closes each episode. Season two will also feature a new all-star cast that will take viewers into seedy underbelly of the 1950s jazz scene, in a detective story positively buzzing with erotic charge. The main character is a jazz-pianist turned private eye who becomes embroiled in a murder investigation that spins out of control and leads him down paths – romantic and otherwise – he never expected.

Jennifer Caserta, IFC’s president said,

“With IFC’s renewed partnership with Funny or Die, Eric Jonrosh and his most-prized works will continue to entertain and enthrall audiences for generations to come.”

Ferrell also commented,

“Hang on to your hats America! This one’s going to be totally bonkers!”

Adam McKay finally added,

“The first Spoils mini-series beat the NFL and Big Bang Theory in ratings (adults: ages 74-92) and changed the way Americans talk, think and prepare meat. We anticipate this new series from Jonrosh with Steele and Piedmont becoming the most watched television event in the history of earth.”
