“Hannibal” season 3 is about to get a lot more exciting. The upcoming season has confirmed that a key character from the books and the films will be showing up and he will be played by Thorin Oakenshield.

The Hobbit actor, Richard Armitage has signed on to play Francis Dolarhyde, the serial killer known as the Tooth Fairy. The news was confirmed on the show’s officially Twitter account.

The Tooth Fairy killer is most known as being played by Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon directed by Brett Ratner back in 2002. The ruthless killer was also depicted by Tom Noonan in Michael Mann’s Manhunter (1986). The killer gets his name due to his desire and love for biting his victims.

Armitage will appear in six episodes of season three while the titular character Hannibal is on the run. Season three of Hannibal is set to premiere this year, although NBC has yet to confirm dates.
