PaleyFest this year ended with some unfortunate news for “American Horror Story” fans. The AHS panel at the event revealed that series regular, Jessica Lange, will not return for the next season.
Despite the shocking news that Lange has left, the upcoming season will feature some new and exciting additions. It was announced a couple of months ago that season five would feature singer Lady Gaga as well as Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson.
“It was my absolute favorite,” Lange said of her time on the FX show. “We had a great run here. I mean, I absolutely love doing these four characters, and in all the madness, I love the writers and Ryan [Murphy] and the insanity of shooting it.”
Since the show’s inception in 2011, Lange has garnered two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her work on “American Horror Story.”
Few other details have been announced regarding the season 5. What we do know is that the new setting will be a mysteriously haunted hotel. It will return some time in October.
On this week’s episode of “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” we finally were treated to the episode that Ryan Murphy teased months ago. Star Jessica Lange covered the Lana Del Rey song, “Gods & Monsters” and it was seriously amazing.
Every episode of AHS: Freak Show so far has had a musical number and I kind of hope it stay this way. The season premiere featured Lange singing David Bowie’s “Life on Mars,” and last week, Sarah Paulson’s heads, Dot and Bette, sang Fiona Apple’s “Criminal.”
You can watch the clip from this week’s episode where Lange sings “Gods & Monsters” below!
Ryan Murphy has officially announced that the fourth season of “American Horror Story” will be titled “Freak Show” and set in a carnival partially in homage to Todd Browning’s 1932 horror classic, Freaks.
Rumors are suggesting that the season will be set in the 1950’s though the time period has not been confirmed. Season 4 will see the return of Jessica Lange. Other series regulars have not been confirmed yet.
Season 3 was set in New Orleans featuring a witch coven. It starred Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Denis O’Hare, Patti LuPone, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Lily Rabe and Emma Roberts.

October is almost here which means two things. A new season of “American Horror Story” and I can finally listen to Christmas music (hey, don’t judge me, it is a miracle I waited this long.) With “American Horror Story: Coven” just a few weeks away from premiering, FX has posted the opening credits sequence online. I know, I know. Season one of the FX series, “American Horror Story” was GOLD while season 2 can be described as merely “good” at best. (Don’t get me wrong, the acting was incredible.) But things are looking up for the show as season 3, titled, “American Horror Story: Coven” looks like it is going to be awesome. Not to mention we will see the return of several actors as well as the addition of some pretty well-known new ones. If you not convinced in the potential awesomeness coming up, a brief 18 second teaser trailer for the third season was released this week which you can see below.
