Clara Definitely Returning for Next Season of Doctor Who

Capaldi doctor who

After months of rumors and assertions that Jenna Coleman would be leaving “Doctor Who” at the end of the Christmas special it appears that her character Clara Oswald will continue to travel with The Doctor.

BBC remained mum on the subject merely telling fans they had to wait till the special, “Last Christmas,” which aired on Christmas day, to find out if she would return for the next season.

Coleman told the BBC,

“I get a whole other [season] of stories with the Doctor and I couldn’t walk away with the story being unresolved. There is so much more to do. I think they’ve finally just reached a point where they really understand each other. The arrival of the 12th Doctor has just kind of dropped this whole bombshell and allowed the dynamic to totally change, so I think just when Clara was feeling more comfortable in the relationship, it has suddenly thrown something new up.”

Peter Capaldi, the actor who currently portrays the 12th Doctor, commented as well,

“I’m thrilled. Jenna has just been fantastic and such a pleasure to work with.”

“Last Christmas” also featured guest star Nick Frost aptly playing Santa Claus himself.

The duo will return in the next season with the first episode titled, “The Magician’s Apprentice.”

The New Trailer for the Doctor Who Christmas Special

BBC has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming “Doctor Who” Christmas Special, “Last Christmas” starring Peter Capaldi, Jenna-Louise Coleman and Nick Frost as Santa.

The episode is described as follows:

“Two heroic icons – the Doctor and Santa – along with Clara Oswald, are thrown together in one of the Time Lord’s most incredible adventures yet!”

The question is, will this be the last adventure for Clara as a companion or will she stay on for another season as is rumored? BBC has declined to comment, basically saying we need to watch the special to find out.

“Last Christmas” will air on BBC America at 9 p.m. ET on Christmas Day. You can watch the trailer below:

The Big Question Peter Capaldi’s Casting Raises in Doctor Who

With season 8 of “Doctor Who” premiering tonight (WHOO!) There is a pretty big question looming that the casting of Peter Capaldi in the role of the 12th Doctor has raised. Beyond the fact the show has always been about creating more questions than answering ones, I mean it is even in the fucking title, but still, when you cast an actor who has already appeared in the core show once, and the spin-off “Torchword” as well. It adds a ton of issues to already wibbly-wobbly plot.

So let’s dice this up a bit, shall we?

Capaldi has previously appeared in season four of the core series in an episode titled “The Fires of Pompeii.” There are no hints in the episode that this is the 12th Doctor, time travelling. If it was himself, he would have known it was volcano day, just had the 10th did and he would have known who the 10th was and who Donna was (unless some mind-wipeness happened as in the season 3 episode “Human Nature” but I doubt the same plot device would be used twice. Moffat is not that lazy.”

Capaldi appeared again in “Torchwood” as a character called John Frobisher. Once again, see similar train of through in previous paragraph.

Moffat says that Russell T. Davies has an explanation (a dull one at that) for the Torchwood and Pompeii appearances saying that Frobisher is possibly a descendant of the family the 10th Doctor saved.

But that still doesn’t explain why both characters are identical to the 12 Doctor. So, it looks like they may have to get creative (or ignore it completely…)

There is also the question about who is coming to challenge the 12th Doctor this time around? The teasers have been hinting at a return of Davros or Dalek Caan and an angrier Doctor then we have ever seen before but Moffat has said this season will not have an over arching storyline that connects each episode like before. This Doctor does not appear to be a “good man” like Matt Smith’s portrayal but something totally and completely different. And Capaldi’s face shows it in every promo we have seen thus far.

Hopefully we get some questions answered tonight even though it will just leave us with more new ones unanswered per usual.

“Doctor Who” Season 8 Teaser Hints at the Return of Davros

Season 8 of “Doctor Who” is starting to look intense. (And so far we have only seen teasers!) A recently released trailer appears to be hinting at the return of familiar nemesis of the Doctor.

Could it be Davros?

We haven’t seen the found of the Dalek Empire in quite a while. In fact, the last time we  saw his gross face was in “The End of Time” when he went again the 10 Doctor.

The new teaser shows the Tardis once again exploding as it oft does and electricity pulsing through the 12th Doctor now played by Peter Capaldi. An unknown Dalek leader, claiming to be omnipotent says, “I see into your soul, Doctor. I see beauty, divinity, hatred.” CreEeeeEEppy.

Do you think it’s Davros? I think it is Davros. I hope it is Davros.

“Doctor Who” returns to BBC One and BBC America on August 23. You can watch the new trailer below!

Doctor Who Adds New Villain for Upcoming Season

Ben Miller

Miller, a self-confessed “Whovian,” said he couldn’t believe his luck in landing the role.

“My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming,” Miller said.

Moffat also added,

“Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with Capaldi in the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa. And quite frankly, it’s about time Ben Miller was in Doctor Who.”

Miller has studied for studied for a Ph.D. in physics at Cambridge University. He has also fronted BBC2 science strand Horizon. He previously appeared on the television series, “Primeval,” and more recently as a detective in the first two series of the BBC’s Death in Paradise.

He joins the ever-expanding cast list that this year includes Tom Riley and Keeley Hawes.

The official premiere date of the new season has not been announced but will release on BBC One later this year.

Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor!

Capaldi doctor who

Peter Capaldi has officially taken over for Matt Smith as the 12th Doctor in the BBC series, “Doctor Who.” Production on the 8th season began in Cardiff this week and BBC has revealed the first look at Capaldi in the titular role.

Capaldi can be seen in the costume that will define his time as the Twelfth Time Lord, BBC said in a press release. Sporting a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt as well as black Dr. Marten shoes, the look was created by Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden.

Commenting on his costume, Peter Capaldi said,

“He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.” While lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat added, “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”
