The opening for the upcoming game, “Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII” has been put online by Square Enix. The opening is just over 5 minutes long and looks gorgeous.
In the next Final Fantasy installment, it is the beginning of the end of the world. Five hundred years after the previous game’s ending, Lightning, the protagonist of the first game and a key character in the second, awakes from a self-imposed hibernation thirteen days before the world is destined to end for good. Given the task of saving the people of the dying world, Lightning goes on a journey which brings her into contact with returning characters from the past two games, and new characters and factions who either support or oppose her mission.
The game employs a highly revamped version of the gameplay system from the previous two games, with an action-oriented battle system and the ability to customize the player character’s outfits.
“Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII” will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 11, 2014.
