Linda Cardellini, my perpetual big sister, is joining the cast of “New Girl” to be someone else’s sister. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Cardellini will play Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) wild sister, Abby, in a recurring status. The episode count is not yet confirmed, but her first appearance is tentatively slated for February.
Cardellini joins Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner who play their parents. They are also slated to reprise their roles in January.
She recently earned an Emmy nomination for best guest actress in a drama for Sylvia Rosen on Mad Men.
New Girl returns from its holiday hiatus on Jan. 7.
