The final episodes of AMC’s “Mad Men” are almost here despite a year since the last time we saw our favorite ad men and women. The final seven episodes begin airing on Sunday, April 5 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT and last week we got the first glimpse into the beginning of the end via a teaser trailer.
The series finale will conclude the complex lives of Don, Peggy, Roger, Joan, Betty, Pete, and the rest of the Sterling, Cooper & Pryce ad agency as they move in the 1970’s. (Though we know the show is really about Peggy and her transformation through a male dominated society, I mean right?!? She is my hero.)
The show’s producers have been incredibly silent about the final episode’s plot and where the show is headed. But the teaser trailer may have revealed kind of something big. The background song in the teaser is “Love Hangover” didn’t come out until 1976, so fans are wondering if the final episodes include a time jump since the last episode ended in 1969.
Either way, we have a few months until the show returns to give us what is most likely to break our hearts.
“What an incredible journey this has been. I take great pride in what the entire ‘Mad Men’ team was able to create episode after episode, season after season,” said show creator Matthew Weiner in a statement earlier this year. “We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us.”
Charlie Collier, AMC President, added,
“‘Mad Men’ is the show that put AMC on the map. Period. It is impossible to overstate the impact it has had on AMC, and I would argue, this era of television. We are honored to forever be the birthplace and home of this iconic series and we can’t wait to share its artful conclusion with the fans. From the first shot, Matthew, his cast and crew handcrafted something truly distinctive for the screen, the very definition of premium television on basic cable. We will miss the remarkable people, the consistently exquisite program, and of course, the free scotch and cigarettes in our vending machines.”
Golden Globe Award winner for Best Actor – Television Series Drama, Jon Hamm leads an ensemble cast, including January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, Elisabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer, Christopher Stanley, Jessica Paré, Jay R. Ferguson, Kevin Rahm, Kiernan Shipka and Mason Vale Cotton.
“Mad Men” was created by Emmy Award winner Weiner and is produced by Lionsgate.
