A new report from The Hollywood Reporter has said that Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly is set to write the script for Legendary‘s upcoming Pacific Rim 2.
We don’t know if Connolly is writing a fresh new script or rewriting the current draft of the sequel that was originally written by Zak Penn.
There are not many plot details released for this sequel. When it was first announced, it was said that the sequel would take place many years after the original film and saw a world where Jaegers were commonplace. But who knows if that is the case now.
For Pacific Rim 2, “Marvel’s Daredevil” season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will make his feature directorial debut.
Connolly has also written the script for upcoming sequel to Jurassic World and another monster film called Kong: Skull Island.
Pacific Rim 2 was originally scheduled for release on April 7, 2017 before being pushed to August 4, 2017 and ultimately removed from the calendar altogether. In a statement, Universal declared they were “committed to having ‘Pacific Rim 2” though no new release date for the film has been announced.
There is no word yet on when the sequel will begin production or an anticipated release date.
