As “American Horror Story: Hotel” fills up its cast, a new face has joined the upcoming season of veterans. “New Girl” star, Max Greenfield, has officially joined the anthology series for its fifth season.
Ryan Murphy, the series showrunner, tweeted that Greenfield would appear “like you’ve never seen him” and hinted at a potentially fatal storyline, writing that he’ll be “checking in to the hotel … but not checking out.”
Greenfield joins Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson,Kathy Bates, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley and Cheyenne Jackson.
The fifth season of “American Horror Story” will take place in a haunted hotel and is set to debut in October. Greenfield will also appear in the fifth season of Fox’s New Girl, which will debut in January.
PaleyFest this year ended with some unfortunate news for “American Horror Story” fans. The AHS panel at the event revealed that series regular, Jessica Lange, will not return for the next season.
Despite the shocking news that Lange has left, the upcoming season will feature some new and exciting additions. It was announced a couple of months ago that season five would feature singer Lady Gaga as well as Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson.
“It was my absolute favorite,” Lange said of her time on the FX show. “We had a great run here. I mean, I absolutely love doing these four characters, and in all the madness, I love the writers and Ryan [Murphy] and the insanity of shooting it.”
Since the show’s inception in 2011, Lange has garnered two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her work on “American Horror Story.”
Few other details have been announced regarding the season 5. What we do know is that the new setting will be a mysteriously haunted hotel. It will return some time in October.
On this week’s episode of “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” we finally were treated to the episode that Ryan Murphy teased months ago. Star Jessica Lange covered the Lana Del Rey song, “Gods & Monsters” and it was seriously amazing.
Every episode of AHS: Freak Show so far has had a musical number and I kind of hope it stay this way. The season premiere featured Lange singing David Bowie’s “Life on Mars,” and last week, Sarah Paulson’s heads, Dot and Bette, sang Fiona Apple’s “Criminal.”
