Fox Orders “Luther” Remake

By on November 18, 2014

FOX is obviously aiming to ruin everything you have ever loved. As they continue the tradition of remaking incredibly popular television shows, they have reportedly added BBC’s “Luther” to the roster.

“Luther” is a psychological crime drama television series starring Idris Elba as the title character, Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, who works in London. The titular main character is described as obsessive, possessed, and sometimes dangerous in the violence of his fixations.

The show ran for three seasons on BBC but there was talk to continue the story via film.

The original series was developed by Neil Cross. According to Variety, Fox has given order to a “hefty put-pilot commitment” to the remake where Cross will reportedly pen the pilot script and executive produce. Elba is currently attached to work as executive producer.

Elba is not expected to reprise his role as Luther. There are no details on who Fox is eyeing to star.

Fox recently adapted “Broadchurch” into “Gracepoint” which has received less than stellar reviews as well their attempt at “Gotham” that currently stands at arguably only okay. Their plan to remake “Luther” is labeled at “why?”
