Sufjan Stevens has not given us a new album in almost five years, the most recently being his Age of Adz LP but today he announced that a brand new album is on the way. The next release is called Carrie & Lowell.
Thew new album is named for his mother and stepfather. For the announcement of the album, he released a video teaser as well which you can see below. Carrie & Lowell will include collaborations from Casey Foubert, Laura Veirs, Nedelle Torrisi, Sean Carey, Ben Lester and Thomas Bartlett.
In the meantime between albums, Stevens has scored a ballet as well as a rodeo documentary. He also released some music with his Sysyphus side project and gave us a glorious set of Christmas songs called Silver and Gold.
