Silent Hills Cancelled Officially

pt_end

In sad gaming news, the highly anticipated horror game, “Silent Hills” has been officially cancelled. The playable teaser “P.T.” will also be pulled from the PlayStation store.

Rumors that the game was on the way out began over the last few weeks and got heavier after Konami announced they were pulling “P.T.” from the store. The game was coming from powerhouse team Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus with Reedus lending his likeness to the game as the main character. His character was scene at the end of “P.T.” if players beat the teaser.

Del Toro confirmed that things were awry with the game during a San Francisco Film Festival appearance on Saturday, but now Konami made the news official today.  The publisher has told a variety of gaming sites, including Polygon, that Silent Hills won’t be finished. Polygon quotes the company as saying that the Silent Hill franchise isn’t dead, but that “the embryonic Silent Hills project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.”

“P.T.” will unfortunately leave the PSN on Wednesday.
