Netflix shipped out their first rental DVD disc in 1998 and it is safe to say that the home entertainment world hasn’t been the same since. The streaming and DVD rental company has changed and grown with the times of movies and television. Going from just renting out DVD’s to streaming almost anything, to now making their own in house content.
But in that 18 years of rentals to millions of customers, they wondered what titles were the most popular. So they looked into it. Here are the 100 most rented movies and TV shows from the last 18 years of their service. (By the way, in case you were wondering, the first movie they ever rented out was 1998’s Beetlejuice. And for some reason that is amazing.) It is also interesting that the first 25 most rented products are all television shows. Maybe Netflix was onto something way early on.
