bill_nye

Bill Nye the Science Guy is returning to television!!!!!!!!!

Nye has an exciting new science show courtesy of Netflix, our quality television overlords. The new series will be called “Bill Nye Saves the World.”

The official synopsis, from Netflix: “Each episode will tackle a topic from a scientific point of view, dispelling myths, and refuting anti-scientific claims that may be espoused by politicians, religious leaders or titans of industry.”

Nye released a statement about the new series:

“Since the start of the Science Guy show, I’ve been on a mission to change the world by getting people everywhere excited about the fundamental ideas in science. Today, I’m excited to be working with Netflix on a new show, where we’ll discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change. With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little.”

“Bill Nye Saves the World” is set to premiere on Netflix in Spring 2017.

Watch the Trailer for Season 3 of Black Mirror!

We have been away from the world of “Black Mirror” for far too long and Netflix is the best for bringing it back. And now they have released the trailer for the upcoming third season and it looks amazing.

In the trailer, we get a look at the six new episodes of the anthology series coming October 21 on the streaming service.

The third season has lined up an impressive cast for what looks like a chilling new set of tales. The cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Kelly, Mackenzie Davis, Jerome Flynn and Malachi Kirby. These new episodes include one that focuses on a world in which all interactions are ranked, a war story, a videogame thriller and a coming-of-age story.

Black Mirror returns on Friday, Oct. 21 on Netflix. Until then, check out the trailer above.

Netflix Series “Friends From College” Adds Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, and Fred Savage

netflix

Netflix’s upcoming series that surely will be insanely successful has added some key cast members that have made it even more enticing. The series is titled “Friends From College” and actors Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxon, Fred Savage, and Jae Suh Park have signed on to play friends from college.

The college will be a famous little school outside of Boston, no not Tufts. These friends from college all went to Harvard. Officially it’s described as following “a group of friends who went to Harvard together and are now facing down their forties.”

The series will be written by Nick Stoller (Neighbors, The Grinder) and Francesca Delbanco are writing the series. Stoller will direct all eight episodes.

“Friends From College” doesn’t have a premiere date yet but we are all awaiting on bated breath. The first season will consist of eight half-hour episodes.

New to Netflix Streaming – September 2016

netflixsept

September is almost here and Netflix has lots of new additions for us on their streaming service. This is one of the BEST months I have seen in a long time. In September we get ALL of the Jaws movies which is going to make for once awesome marathon day. They have also added “Shameless” season 5 and 6, “New Girl” season 5, and “Luther” season 4.

However, the most anticipated additions are the sixth season of “The Walking Dead,” the first season “Marvel’s Luke Cage” and the second season of “Scream: the TV series.”

There is some bad news, unfortunately. All five seasons of “Fringe” is leaving. So you better find it on DVD or something.

First Look at the Return of “Black Mirror”

blackmirror

After it was announced that Netflix would pick up the dystopian science fiction series, “Black Mirror,” fans have been waiting for any news of its season 3 premiere. Last week, Netflix answered with the release of several photos from the upcoming season.

In one set of photos from the episode titled “San Junipero” we see Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis looking perfectly 80’s glam. Netflix described this episode as ’80s-centric, and revealed that it would be directed by Owen Harris.

The other set comes from the episode “Nosedive.” The episode was written by Rashida Jones and Mike Schur (of Parks and Recreation) and directed by Joe Wright (Pride and PrejudiceAtonement). This episode stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Alice Eve, and James Norton. “Nosedive” is “a social satire about identity in the social-media age. It’s kind of like a cheerful pastel nightmare, that story.”

Netflix’s Stranger Things is More Popular Than House of Cards, Making a Murderer

strangethings1

The Netflix Original Series, “Stranger Things,” has taken the world by storm. It was insanely popular the week it premiered and has remained an intense talking point ever since. Interestingly, despite its popularity, Netflix has yet to officially confirm a second season – which everyone seems to be sure is going to happen. Though,  CEO Reed Hastings has said, “We would be dumb not to [renew the show].”

And yes, they would have to be dumb not to renew because it was just revealed that the first season of “Stranger Things” has officially become more popular than Netflix originals like House of Cards and Making a Murderer in terms of viewership.

According to reports from Business Insider, a survey from SymphonyAM (Symphony Advanced Media) found that Stranger Things’s first season was the third-most-watched TV show on Netflix, following Fuller House and Orange is the New Black. (Though, really “Fuller House” was ahead of everything else?? Why?)

When the sci fi thriller had only been on the streaming service for a mere 16 days, 8.2 million people had tuned in, making it more viewed than House of Cards, Narcos, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Making A Murderer.

However, it should be noted that the data from SymphonyAM is disputed as Netflix notoriously does not release or track their viewership data. Not to mention that Netflix has  accused SymphonyAM of being “remarkably inaccurate” in the past. But considering what the buzz was like around the proverbial water cooler following the show’s premiere, I wouldn’t be surprised if it really was one of the most watched shows during the first two weeks.

Currently, the state of the show’s second season is a mystery, though the producers have commented that they are ready for another season with loads more story to tell. \

Stranger Things Producers Ready to Make “Several More Seasons”

strangethings1

The newest Netflix series, “Stranger Things” has been an insanely awesome hit. The 80’s science fiction series thrilled and was epically beautiful and thankfully there will be more.

While Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed follow up seasons (yet, but we are fairly sure they will), the producers are already on board for several more seasons. Executive producer Shane Levy said,

And the plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season. So I’ll just say that a lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of Season 1, but we are very much kind of unearthing new problems and questions that merit future stories and future investigation in the most enjoyable way. So we are in love with our cast and our characters.

Things end up being resolved to some extent at the end of Season 1, but not entirely. And that’s why we’re so hopeful we get another few seasons to live with these people a little longer.

“Stranger Things” was created by the Duffer brothers. It premiered in its entirety on Netflix late July.

Season 5 of “Arrested Development” Is Almost Ready

arrested-developement1__130621160438

The Bluth family is coming back… again! Netflix is bringing it “Arrested Development” again for a fifth season according to longtime producer Mitch Hurwitz.

Hurwitz recently revealed at the Television Critics Association press tour, “We’re very close.” However, he stressed that nothing is yet official. “It’s the thing I’m really desperate to do. We’ve got a lot of stories broken. We’re ready to go. I’m so appreciative of the fans wanting more, I’d hate to tease them with information until we know it’s going to happen … if it does happen, it looks like shooting would happen at the start of 2017.”

Netflix revived “Arrested Development” for a 15-episode fourth season back in 2013, after the series had been canceled by Fox in 2006 angering fans. When Netflix didn’t immediately renew the show for another season after the fourth in 2013, it worried fans that it would be a one off. But this news from Hurwitz is promising.
