The second season is still a month away from premiering but Netflix has renewed the series for a third season! Currently, there is not a set release date for the third season, but at least Netflix knows a good thing when they see it.

The series revolves around Piper Chapman a bisexual woman living in New York City who is sentenced to 15 months in a women’s federal prison for transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her former girlfriend, Alex Vause, who is an international drug smuggler. The offense occurred ten years prior to the start of the series, and in that time Piper had moved on to a quiet, law-abiding life among New York’s upper middle class. While in prison, Piper is reunited with Alex, and they re-examine their relationship and deal with their fellow inmates.

Laura Prepon, one of the lovely ladies of the prison, posted the news via her Instagram account:

“Orange is the New Black” stars Taylor Schilling, Jason Biggs, Kate Mugrew, Danielle Brooks, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning, Laverne Cox, Michael Harney, Samira Wiley, Yael Stone and more. Lorraine Toussaint joins the cast in season two as Yvonne “Vee” Parker.

As a Netflix Original Series, all 13 episodes of the first season premiered instantly while season 2 will have all episodes available on June 6th.

The series is based on the memoir from Piper Kerman of the same name.
