Check Out The New Orange Is The New Black Trailer

When the Oscars aired last week, most people steered clear from poking fun that night. But the Netflix Original Series “Orange Is The New Black” couldn’t resist the opportunity to release a new trailer for their upcoming series while at the same time digging at the #OscarsSoWhite controversy.

The teaser trailer is titled “For Your Incarceration” playing on the Oscar campaign “For your consideration.” It features the inmates watching the award ceremony with Taystee adding “Even when white folks try to be exciting, they still boring.”

The trailer unfortunately didn’t give us much about what to expect for season 4. When we left the inmates in season 3, the state of the prison was up in the air after being acquired by new owners. Piper has become a true villain after creating a business within the prison resulting in her framing Stella for possession of dangerous contraband and Stella being dragged off to maximum security prison. Alex is cornered in the greenhouse by a new guard sent by Kubra, and her fate is left uncertain.

Season four of Orange Is the New Black will premiere on Jun. 17. You can watch the teaser below:

Orange Is The New Black Renewed for 3 More Seasons

Netflix is not messing around with its original series, “Orange is the New Black.” It officially renewed the series for three more seasons.

This isn’t particularly surprising as the show is one of the top series every year but three seasons is one of the largest bulk renewals for a show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, OITNB is the biggest show on the streaming giant.

Creator Jenji Kohan said,

“Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things,” said Kohan in a statement. “In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures. Here’s to keeping it interesting.”

The fourth season of Orange Is The New Black premieres on Jun. 17.

Orange is the New Black Renewed for Fourth Season

Not surprisingly, Netflix has renewed “Orange is the New Black” for a fourth season. Interestingly, the streaming service has renewed the series before the third season has premiered. Season three will premiere all of the episodes for streaming on June 12 while season four will arrive sometime in 2016.

Season 3 will feature some new faces and the return of some favorites. Mary Steenburgen joined the cast and was revealed to be playing the mother of Pablo Schreiber’s character (Mendez aka Pornstache). Laura Prepon will return as Alex. She wasn’t seen as much in season two, since the character was released from prison for a while, but she will be back full time in season three. Mike Birbiglia has joined the cast in an unknown role. Ruby Rose joined the cast as a new inmate who will play a potential love interest for both Piper and Alex.

OITNB has won three Emmys, two SAG awards, an NAACP Image award, a Peabody and a PGA award, along with incredible critical acclaim and fan love.

Netflix knows what it is doing and knows what shows fans want. Along with the return of OITNB, they also renewed “House of Cards” for a fourth season.

A new clip for the upcoming season three has been released which you can watch below:

OITNB Emmy Petition Denied – Must Compete as a Drama

Since the recent rule change for the Primetime Emmy Awards, several shows have been up in arms about their new category. The new rule states that any show over 30 minutes in length would compete in the drama category at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. This was not the best of news for shows like “Orange is the New Black” who have been considered comedies.

It was then stated that shows that were longer than 30 minutes could argue to be put back in the comedy category with a petition which is just what some did like “Shameless,” “Glee” and “Jane the Virgin.” Apparently, “Orange is the New Black” attempted to do this as well but since they only competed in the Emmy’s once so far, the committee has turned down their petition and ruled that OITNB will have to compete in the drama category.

This means the series will be competing against shows like “Game of Thrones,” “Mad Men” and fellow Netflix sibling “House of Cards.”

The ruling by the committee is surprising considering at last year’s awards, OINTB received an impressive 12 nominations in the comedy category. It was an even bigger upset when the top prize was given to the fifth season of “Modern Family” instead. Many believed this year would be the year that OINTB would come back to win it all but if the show is not allowed to compete in the comedy category, the chances of it winning anything are even smaller (considering its competition.)

Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, said,

“Orange Is the New Black is a truly pioneering series and an iconoclast which has always defied genre or easy categorization. While we’re disappointed in the committee’s decision, we believe that Orange represents the best of television in either category.”

Mike Birbiglia to Guest Star in Orange is the New Black

Mike Birbiglia, the comedian who is afraid of bears and has an issue with sleepwalking, will be appearing in the upcoming third season of “Orange is the New Black.”

At the moment the exact role that Birbiglia will be playing as not been announced but I can only imagine it will be hilarious and amazing (or amazingly hilarious if you will.) Whether his role will be based on a character from the Piper Kerman memoir or a new character all together has also not been revealed.

“Orange is the New Black” is a Netflix Original Series with the third season expected to premiere on the streaming service sometime in 2015.

“Orange Is the New Black” Adds Mary Steenburgen to Season 3

Season three of the Netflix Original Series “Orange is the New Black” has added another new cast member! Mary Steenburgen is will be officially joining the cast but the details of what character has not been revealed.

Production on season 3 has already begun and series creator Jenji Kohan confirmed that stars Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon will appear in every episode.

You might recognize Steenburgen from roles in “30 Rock” and Step Brothers.

The actress broke the news Thursday via Twitter with an enthusiastic tweet.

Season 2 of the series recently premiered on Netflix in its entirety. The second season featured special guest star Lori Petty.

The series was renewed for a 13-episode third season last month.

The second season is still a month away from premiering but Netflix has renewed the series for a third season! Currently, there is not a set release date for the third season, but at least Netflix knows a good thing when they see it.

The offense occurred ten years prior to the start of the series, and in that time Piper had moved on to a quiet, law-abiding life among New York’s upper middle class. While in prison, Piper is reunited with Alex, and they re-examine their relationship and deal with their fellow inmates.

Laura Prepon, one of the lovely ladies of the prison, posted the news via her Instagram account:
