Showtime Shares Official ‘Twin Peaks’ Revival Cast

In a very exciting reveal, Showtime has announced the official cast list for the upcoming revival of Twin Peaks AND IT IS A DOOZY.

As you expected many of the original actors from the 1990 series are returning but there are some new additions that will get your attention.

It was already reported and confirmed that Sherilyn Fenn would be returning to the series as Audrey Horne, Kyle McLachlan is also returning as Special Agent Dale Cooper, Mädchen Amick is reprising her role as Shelley, and Sheryl Lee confirmed her return as the one who started it all: Laura Palmer. David Duchovny was thought to be returning Denise and the Showtime list confirms this. It has been reported and now confirmed by today’s list that Naomi Watts and Laura Dern were joining the series, as well as Amanda Seyfried alongside previously rumored cast members Jennifer Jason Leigh and Ashley Judd.

HOWEVER, some new cast members no one even thought would be involved include Sky Ferreira, Sharon Van Etten, Eddie Vedder, Chromatics’ Ruth Radelet and Trent Reznor, Monica Bellucci and Tim Roth, Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi.

Yeah. It’s going to be intense.

It is almost time guys! Showtime has released a legit teaser for the upcoming Twin Peaks revival and it’s exactly what we were hoping for.

In the teaser, which you can watch below, Michael Horse’s Deputy Hawk talks about returning to the set in a dream-like montage and the Twin Peaks sign is revealed to the original theme song. Then David Lynch takes over and it turns into a nightmarish feverdream.

It is beautiful.

In the upcoming revival, Kyle MacLachlan was confirmed as returning to the series as Agent Cooper. Other returning cast members reported to return are Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer),  Richard Beymer (Benjamin Horne), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), Mädchen Amick(Shelly Johnson), Everett McGill (Ed Hurley), and Wendy Robie (Nadine Hurley). Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne) has been offered to reprise her role but there isn’t word if she will appear. Amanda Seyfried, Balthazar Getty, Robert Knepper, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bailey Chase have been cast in recurring roles, all playing new characters.

There is not a lot of information regarding the plot of the upcoming new limited series but we do know it involves the egnimatic words whispered by Laura in the original series “See you in 25 years Agent Cooper.”

The Walking Dead’s Emily Kinney Joins Masters of Sex

Emily Kinney, the actress most known for playing Beth Greene on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has officially joined the cast of Showtime’s “Masters of Sex.” According to reports from Variety, Kinney will join the show during it’s forthcoming third season.

Kinney will play the role of Nora, a self-assured and intelligent young woman who volunteers in one of the sex studies as a sex surrogate. Nora is also the next door neighbor to main character Dr. William Masters.

“Masters of Sex” stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson, respectively, a pair of pioneering researchers at the forefront of the sexual revolution of the ‘60s. It is based on the true tale of how the two scientists studied sex during that formative decade and the years afterward.

Along with being incredibly popular on “The Walking Dead,” Kinney has also appeared on “The Following,” The Flash,” The Good Wife,” and “Law & Order: SVU.” She also has a recurring role in the forthcoming second season of Cinemax’s The Knick.

Showtime Announces Standalone Steaming Service

With the recent release of HBO’s standalone streaming service, Showtime has realized how valuable the offering can be to subscribers. The network has officially announced their own standalone streaming service that will debut this summer.

When it first releases, it will be accessible exclusively through Apple products—iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone, and Apple TV—via the service’s app. The service will include Showtime originals, live broadcasts, and licensed content. It will be priced at $10.99 per month.

SHOWTIME, the service’s title, launches this July, and will include a free one-month trial for initial subscribers. You can watch the launch trailer below:

Masters of Sex: Season 2 Trailer Released

Showtime officially released a new trailer for the upcoming second of “Masters of Sex.” The second season will be returning to Showtime July 13.

The series is based on Thomas Maier’s biography, “Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love.” It stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as the lead characters, Dr. Masters and Virginia Johnson, two pioneering researchers of human sexuality at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Sarah Silverman Joins Showtime’s Masters of Sex

Sarah Silverman has officially announced that she will join the cast of “Masters of Sex” on Showtime. Silverman will join in season 2 in a recurring role known as Helen.

“Masters of Sex” stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as real-life pioneers of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson.

The series chronicles the unusual lives of Sheen and Caplan, as well as romance and pop culture trajectory. Their research touched off the sexual revolution and took them from a mid-western teaching hospital in St. Louis to the cover of Time magazine. The series is an adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book “Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love.”

“Masters of Sex” season one received both Golden Globe and WGA nominations. It was also honored as one AFI’s Top Ten Television Programs of the Year.

Along with Silverman, season 2 will also see the addition of Caitlin Fitzgerald, Teddy Sears, and Annaleigh Ashford.

Production one season 2 is currently underway. It will premiere on Sunday, July 13.

Dexter is Coming to Netflix on Halloween

Netflix and the CBS Corporation have officially announced today that all eight seasons of the Showtime series, “Dexter” will be hitting Netflix Instant. Beginning on Halloween (Oct 31, 2013), the first four seasons of the award-winning series will be available to watch instantly; seasons 5-8 will begin on Jan 1, 2014.

“Dexter” stars Golden Globe winning actor Michael C. Hall as the titular Dexter Morgan, a serial killer. As a Miami forensics expert, he spends his days solving crimes, and nights committing them. But Dexter lives by a strict code of honor that is both his saving grace and lifelong burden. Torn between his deadly compulsion and his desire for true happiness, Dexter is a man in profound conflict with the world and himself.

Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix, said,

“We’re thrilled to have ‘Dexter,’ one of Showtime’s highest-rated shows on Netflix, and so quickly after it completed its record-breaking run. “Dexter” aired on Showtime from October 1, 2006 to September 22, 2013. The series has enjoyed wide critical acclaim and popularity, including four straight Primetime Emmy nominations for Best Drama series in its first four seasons. Season four aired its season finale on December 13, 2009 to a record-breaking audience of 2.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched original series episode ever on Showtime at that time.

In April 2013, Showtime announced that season eight would be the final season of “Dexter.” The season eight premiere was the most watched Dexter episode ever with over 3 million viewers. The original broadcast of the series finale—shown at 9 p.m. on September 22, 2013—drew 2.8 million viewers, the largest overall audience in Showtime’s history.

Rhys Ifans Joins Showtime’s Trending Down

Rhys Ifans, known for his role in The Amazing Spider-Man, has signed on for the series joining Oscar winning actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman and critically acclaimed actress Kathryn Hahn.
