Norwegian Cruise Line and Nintendo Expand Partnership to Bring Wii U Gaming Fun to Ships

Nintendo of America has announced the continuation of their partnership with Norwegian Cruise Lines with an offer of Wii U video game systems and Wii U games fleetwide. As part of the partnership expansion, the line will feature Nintendo’s newest video game console in all ships’ atriums and youth and teen centers. In addition, the new HD Wii U systems will be featured at various competitions and events on board each ship.

The partnership was first established in 2007 when Wii systems were introduced fleetwide. Now, with the introduction of Wii U, the successor to Wii, the gaming experience is being elevated to new levels. The interactive Wii U gaming system complements Norwegian’s Freestyle Cruising® by offering gaming opportunities to guests of all ages. The new consoles give guests the chance to experience a variety of new action, adventure, party, racing, strategy, puzzle and sports games. Upcoming game rollouts will include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, a high-definition re-release of one of the greatest Nintendo games of all time; Super Mario 3D World, the first multiplayer 3D Mario game for Wii U; New Super Luigi U, starring Mario’s green-clad brother; Pikmin 3, which asks players to command an army of colorful creatures; and The Wonderful 101, which puts players in control of a band of superheroes fighting off an alien invasion.

Richard Ambrose, Norwegian Cruise Line’s vice president of entertainment said,

“The Wii consoles have always been extremely popular among our guests. The new Wii U systems are guaranteed to take gaming on board to the next level, and will surely be a hit.”

Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing, also added,

“Wii U provides one of the most social video game experiences you can have, whether you’re playing with family members or friends. The ships in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet give people a great opportunity to experience Wii U for themselves, have fun playing Nintendo games and make some new friends.”

Nintendo Offers Great Wii U Deals to Kick off Holiday Shopping Season

If you are like me, you have already begun planning your gifts for this holiday season. Then again maybe you haven’t but at least I am here to help you out, if you have a Wii U anyway. Beginning November 1, Nintendo has begun their consumers can find a lower price for Nintendo Land, a new Wii U hardware bundle, cool new accessories and a free trial for one of the most popular exercise franchises in video game history.

Nintendo has also launched a new bundle for the Wii U Deluxe Set that includes two games: New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U – all on one disc at a suggested retail price of $299.99.

Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing, said,

“Nintendo is making sure holiday shoppers have great deals and lots of choices. We have something for everyone on your shopping list, and we’re making it easy for you to beat the holiday rush and get started now.”

Some of the deals include:

  • New Hardware Bundle Option: Today Nintendo launches a new bundle for the Wii U Deluxe Set that comes with two games – New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U – all on one disc at a suggested retail price of $299.99. The new bundle becomes the default Deluxe Set model.
  • Wii Fit U Free Trial: Between today and Jan. 31, 2014, anyone with a Wii Balance Board accessory, a Wii U system and a broadband Internet connection can download a complete version of the new Wii Fit U game in the Nintendo eShop for free. The trial version includes the full Wii Fit Uexperience and will be free for a month from the day it is first played. Fitness fans can make the trial version permanent by purchasing and syncing a Fit Meter to the game. Fit Meter accessories are available online and at select retailers at a suggested retail price of $19.99 each.
  • New Price for Nintendo Land: Nintendo has dropped the suggested retail price of the Nintendo Land game for the Wii U console. Nintendo Landis now available in stores and in the Nintendo eShop at a suggested retail price of $29.99, down from the original suggested retail price of $59.99.
  • New Colorful Controllers: New Mario-themed and Luigi-themed Wii Remote Plus controllers launching today make great, colorful accessories for Wii and Wii U. The controllers are now available at a suggested retail price of $39.99 each.

In addition to all of these great deals, the Skylanders Swap Force Wii U bundle launches Nov. 15 at a suggested retail price of $299.99 and includes everything needed to start the new adventure plus an assortment of Skylanders extras that will satisfy current fans and newcomers alike. The bundle comes with a white Wii U Basic Set, a Skylanders Swap Force starter pack that includes three Skylanders figures, a Portal of Power, trading cards, Skylanders sticker sheets, a collector poster and a Nintendo Land game disc.

Wii U has the best lineup of games for any home console this holiday season, with new installments in The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. franchises. Mario and Luigi Jump into the New Wii U Deluxe Set

Nintendo announced today the launch of the new Wii U Deluxe set that will include two of their biggest video game names: Mario and Luigi. Beginning November 1, the Wii U Deluxe model will come with both “New Super Mario Bros. U” and “New Super Luigi U” on one disc.

“Mario and Luigi are two of the biggest heroes in video games,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “This new Wii U configuration gives people instant access to not one, but two of the most well-received Wii U games. It’s another example of the tremendous value and variety that Nintendo is offering consumers this holiday season.”

“New Super Mario Bros. U” and “New Super Luigi U”  offer players two separate platforming adventures – one starring Mario and one starring Luigi – each filled with dozens of creative levels. Both Mario and Luigi control differently, giving each game a distinct feel and challenge. Both games showcase the refreshing originality and game play that can only be found on Nintendo systems.

The Mario and Luigi Wii U Deluxe Set will sell for $299.99. Also available currently is the beautiful, limited-edition Wii U Deluxe bundle that comes with a download code for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, a gorgeous GamePad controller adorned with art inspired by The Legend of Zelda series and a download code for a digital copy of Hyrule Historia is also still available at a suggested retail price of $299.99 while supplies last.
