Netflix Brings New Girl to U.S. Members Starting Today

“New Girl” fans are in luck as Netflix and Twentieth Century Fox Television announced today that the popular series will be available to watch instantly beginning July 1st. The companies have signed a new multi-year exclusive subscription video on demand agreement for one of the most popular primetime comedies on air today.

The first season of “New Girl” will be available for members to watch instantly beginning today, July 1st. Subsequent seasons of the Golden Globe nominated show will all be available to Netflix after the broadcast seasons.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said,

“‘New Girl’ has proven to be the biggest breakout sitcom hit of the season and we are thrilled to be able offer it so quickly to our U.S. subscribers. We know our members love comedies and that they’ll enjoy watching all the current and future episodes of ‘New Girl’ whenever and wherever they want.”

The series has recently been renewed for a third season on Fox as it continues to grow in popularity. It follows an offbeat girl Jess (Zooey Deschanel), who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys, changing all their lives in an unexpected way. The hit ensemble comedy struck a chord early on with viewers with its fresh look at modern relationships. It also stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, and Hannah Simone.

“New Girl” is produced by Chernin Entertainment in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created by Elizabeth Meriwether. It is executive produced by Meriwether, Brett Baer, Dave Finkel, Jake Kasdan, Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope. Meriwether, Baer and Finkel have also served as co-showrunners/writers and Kasdan directing multiple episodes of the show.
