Ghostbusters Not Likely to See Sequel

GhostbustersRevealBody

This pretty much bums me out. When Ghostbusters first released, Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at Sony, was sure of a Ghostbusters sequel: “While nothing has been officially announced yet, there’s no doubt in my mind it will happen,” said Bruer. However, now, they are changing their tune and have said that a sequel is very unlikely. Ill miss you Holtzmann, you were amazing.

According to box office receipts, the film is expected to fall $70 million short of profitability. According to many reports, Ghostbusters  has earned a little more than $180 million worldwide and $117 million domestically. Though its production budget was $144 million, the film would have to earn $300 million to break even because of its advertising costs. Sony is quick to defend the movie stating,

“This loss calculation is way off,” a Sony rep told The Hollywood Reporter. “With multiple revenue streams, including consumer products, gaming, location-based entertainment, continued international rollout, and huge third-party promotional partnerships that mitigated costs, the bottom line, even before co-financing, is not remotely close to that number.”

Yet, Sony has not commented on a Sequel since the initial premiere back in July which is concerning to fans who loved the reboot.

“We’re very proud of the bold movie Paul Feig made, which critics and audiences loved,” said a studio rep. “It has enlivened a 30-year-old brand and put it into the modern zeitgeist. As a result, we have many ideas in the works to further exploit the Ghostbusters universe.”

The new Ghostbusters movie didn’t deserve all the hate it got and worse the fact that people refused to see or used the fact that it wasn’t exactly on par with the original to hate it maliciously – now can use it as an excuse to delay even further to have female led movies in the future. And that sucks.

Watch the New Trailer for Ghostbusters!

A second trailer for Ghostbusters has dropped and despite what a lot of people feel, I am still insanely excited for this reboot. And as director Paul Feig tweeted, #sickofthehaters.

The new trailer showcases many of the film’s action oriented scenes and some of the more iconic scenes rebooted from the original film (like the slimer!)

The trailer also tackles some humor of the era like gender, race, and selfies during times of crisis.

Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15. Watch the newest trailer below.

Watch The First Ghostbusters Reboot Trailer!

Despite all the hate this movie is currently getting. I think this trailer looks TOTALLY BITCHIN. I can’t wait. The first trailer is here and it looks like the new rebooted Ghostbusters is going to hold up. It is everything I wanted and more.

While expected to be an homage to the original it also looks to have fresh and exciting material. The trailer features the original theme song remixed into a new modern and (badass) version. We also get to see the cast, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones meet up and become the busters of ghosts.

The film is out on Jul. 15. Check out the first trailer below:

A brand new still from the upcoming Ghostbusters has been released and its FUCKING AMAZING. The image shows our stars in their iconic uniforms ready to bust some ghosts.

Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later, Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Gilbert reunites with Yates and others when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones. The film will hit theaters on July 15, 2016.

Bill Murray to Appear in Ghostbusters Reboot

UNILAD-13 (1)

The upcoming Ghostbusters reboot just keeps getting better and better. Bill Murray will reportedly reprise his role as Peter Venkman in the Paul Feig film that stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as the titular busters of ghosts. Chris Hemsworth is also set to star as their secretary because why not?

The exact depth of Murray’s appearance is not yet known. Whether he will return just as a cameo or if Peter Venkman will truly return in a larger capacity has not been revealed but fans are hoping for the latter.

Ghostbusters will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.

The Ghostbusters Reboot Cast and Release Date Revealed

The official all female cast for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot project has been announced and it is literally the best thing ever. Paul Feig, the director of the upcoming reboot, announced the cast and release date for the film on Twitter earlier today. Ghostbusters will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.

The film is a remake of the 1984 iconic comedy from Ivan Reitman. Feig’s remake has been described has going to be “scarier” than the original while not maintaining any  continuity with the original film or its 1989 sequel (or the animated series “The Real Ghostbusters,” for that matter). The actual plot of his film has not been revealed.

Ghostbusters is scheduled to shoot this summer in New York. The film will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
