Astronaut and incredibly friendly guy, Chris Hadfield has announced that he is writing a book! The novel will be entitled, “An Astronaut’s Guide To Life on Earth,” and is scheduled to be published on October 29th. Hadfield is also set to do an audio reading that will be published simultaneously.

In “An Astronaut’s Guide To Life on Earth” Chris Hadfield takes readers deep into his years of training and space exploration to show how to make the impossible possible. Through eye-opening, entertaining stories filled with the adrenaline of launch, the mesmerizing wonder of spacewalks, and the measured, calm responses mandated by crises, he explains how conventional wisdom can get in the way of real achievement–and happiness. His own extraordinary education in space has taught him some counterintuitive lessons: don’t visualize success, do care what others think, and always sweat the small stuff.

For five months, Hadfield was commander of the International Space Station. During his time aboard the space station he took to social media answering all kinds of questions we had about space and more. He took videos, photos, and even did a weightless performance of David Bowie’s Space Oddity. Hadfield was described as “perhaps the most social media savvy astronaut ever to leave Earth” by Forbes. He gained over 1,000,000 Twitter followers as of June 2013 and creating one of the top Reddit AmA threads of all time. He also has a popular Tumblr blog.

Hadfield also announced his plans to retire on June 10 in Quebec ending a 35 year career as a military pilot and an astronaut.
