Ever since Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy ended, we have been left with a bat-shaped hole in our hearts. I know we all would love to have Christian Bale back as The Batman but he has made it perfectly clear he is done with that role. With the idea of an upcoming Justice League moving looming on the horizon, fans wondered whether or not Bale would reprise his role for the new film. Yet despite fans wishes, Bale confirmed recently during an interview with EW that he would not be returning.
“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” Bale told EW. “Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”
He also went on to make it known that he has literally nothing to do with the Justice League film.
”I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it. It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”
While a Justice League movie would be marvelous, there has been no official confirmation that it is currently in the works or when it would happen.
