Adam McKay and Will Ferrell may not have realized how amazing their 2004 comedy film, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, would end up being but nearly 10 years later the film will be entered into a museum. Beginning November 14th, the Newseum in Washington, D.C., will feature an exhibit based on the journalism comedy.
The exhibit will feature key items from the film including Burgundy’s wardrobe (such as his signature burgundy anchorman suit), his IM #1 vanity plate, his jazz flute and, most importantly, his mustache brush. Items from other news team members will also be there including Brian Fantana’s Sex Panther Cologne in its original box , but ladies be careful, because 60% of the time, it works every time.
According to Newseum staffers, they hope the exhibit will both be entertaining and educational by bringing to attention some of the different aspects of journalism in the 70’s such as the sexism that prevailed in newsrooms.
“There is a reality about the newsroom here and the changes that were going on at the time,” says Carrie Christoffersen, Newseum curator. “We like to edu-tain. You can get educated and entertained.”
The sequel is also on the verge of release with Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues opening in theaters in December.
