Is it just me or is anyone else kind of over Will Smith these days? Maybe it’s because he continues to try to force his son and daughter on us? Maybe it’s that he secretly tries to push Scientology on us and expects us to be too dumb to realize it? I don’t know what it is but I am kind of over him. Though maybe the American (and foreign) public feels differently as he may be returning for a sequel to the hit 1996 film, Independence Day.
The sequel was officially announced this past June and director Roland Emmerich said that Smith would not return. However, in an interview with Digital Spy, Emmerich says that he’s scheduled to have a meeting with Smith about reprising his role in the sequel.
“I sometimes say no, Will Smith will not be in it because he didn’t want to do it at first. Now we have a meeting planned, we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen,” said the filmmaker.
Very little news has been released about the project. So far we don’t know the either the plot or the official cast. Emmerich did confirm however that several of the original film’s character’s would appear in the script though he did not reveal who.
The sequel is set for a release on July 3, 2015.

Is Jeff Goldblum coming back cause then I’m in. Will Smith’s devotion to his children while admirable is pushy, at best.

I would be all about some Goldblum returning. That I hope happens at least.
