“The Last of Us” is one of the best games of the year. Seriously. So could we possibly see a movie version in the future? Sony has reportedly registered two domain names that seem to suggest a movie based on the games is in the works.
On November 25, Sony’s online brand protection agency MarkMonitor, registered the domain names: TheLastOfUs-Movie.com and TheLastOfUsMovie.net. Even more so, the registrant’s email has a Sony Pictures address. You can check out the listing on Domain Tools.
None of this has been confirmed by Sony at the moment, but fans all over the world are likely feeling a wide range of emotions somewhere between cautious optimism and justified refusal.
“The Last of Us” is a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Cities are abandoned and being reclaimed by nature. Remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a young teenage girl who’s braver and wiser beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.
