My delicious Matt Smith is leaving “Doctor Who” but is giving us one last episode by way of the annual Christmas Special. BBC has released the official a 30-second, action-packed trailer for the “Doctor Who” Christmas special, “The Time of The Doctor,” to air Christmas Day. It marks the last appearance of Smith as the titular Doctor before 12th Time Lord Peter Capaldi takes over the role.
Capaldi was announced as the next Doctor back in August when it was revealed that Smith was leaving the role. It was further teased during Nov. 23′s record-breaking “Day of The Doctor” 50th anniversary special (of which I saw in theaters and it was awesome.) In the Christmas Special, it appears that we will see The Doctor finally make it to the Fields of Trenzalore where he is rumored through all of time to meet his end (or rather just regenerate apparently).
While I am still apprehensive of Capaldi and I was not-so-secretly in love with Smith for the longest time, I am not willing to lose “Doctor Who” from my life. The annual holiday special will air to American audiences at 9 pm Christmas Day on BBC America.
