The film adaptation of the hit video game series, “Uncharted” is finally moving forward according to a report from Deadline. Seth Gordon, the director behind the film Horrible Bosses, is negotiating to direct the project.
The Naughty Dog game follows a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nate Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray, then is ratcheted up several notches when creatures — actually mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis — begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure’s true secrets.
A film version of “Uncharted” as been in development several times with various directors attached such as David O. Russell (American Hustle) to Neil Burger (Limitless).The most recent draft of the project was written by the National Treasure screenwriting pair of Marianne and Cormac Wibberley. Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer wrote the initial draft.
