“True Detective” has officially become the most-watched first year series in the history of HBO. Is anyone surprised? Because that was one of the best shows I have ever seen.

The series starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. “True Detective” beat out the previous winner “Six Feet Under” – which averaged 11.4 million per episode in its freshman season. Actually surprising is that the series beat of “Game of Thrones. ” While “Game of Thrones” is HBO’s most watched series of all time, the first season of “True Detective” still beat GoT’s first.

Along side McConaughey and Harrelson, the series also starred Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts, and Tory Kittles. It utilizes uses multiple timelines to trace two Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division homicide detectives’ hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana across seventeen years.
