The first teaser for Foxcatcher recently debuted and took our breathes away, in an eerie and peculiar kind of way. The film stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo.
Carell stars as the Batman-esque rich guy John du Pont, an heir to the DuPont Chemical fortune. It tells the true tale of the mentally ill rich guy (never a good combination, really) who was eventually convicted of murder. Tatum and Ruffalo star as the Olympic wrestling champions Mark and Dave Schultz who were coached and mentored by du Pont.
Not surprisingly, Foxcatcher premiered at Cannes this past weekend and was overwhelmingly loved by critics and audiences.
Variety‘s Justin Chang called it “powerfully disturbing” and highlighted the performances of the three leading men.
The performance by Carell, who is almost unrecognizable as du Pont, has been especially praised as the traditionally comedic actor portrays the dark and doomed character.
Foxcatcher was directed by Bennett Miller with a script from E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman. It also stars Sienna Miller and Anthony Michael Hall.
The film is set to hit theaters Nov. 14 and you can see the teaser below:
