Comedy Central has announced that they are adapting the popular web series “BriTANick.” The series will be a half-hour scripted show according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“BriTANick” the series, will star Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney as fictional best friends in a farcical series of adventures based on their real lives. In the pilot, Nick fakes his own death to get out of a relationship as Brian tries to buy his way back into one.
The duo have an incredibly popular series of online videos which have millions of views and even some famous fans such as Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion.
Kocher and McElhaney created BriTANick in 2008 after the duo graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. The duo writes, directs, edits and acts in all of their videos. So far they have created more than 30 shorts with millions of views each.
This is also not the first time that Comedy Central has adapted a web series for television. They just renewed “Broad City” for a second season.
If “BriTANick” is picked up for an official series, it would join fellow comedy/skit shows “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Key and Peele,” and “The Kroll Show,” among others.
