HBO To Re-Master The Wire… Sometime

In case you haven’t seen Idris Elba as a hardened and steely member of the Baltimore underground drug world, now is your chance to do it remastered. HBO is about to replay the highly praised series “The Wire” … at some point. No premiere dates have been confirmed.

Originally the replay in HD was supposed to occur this month, but now HBO is claiming that the promo advertising the September dates ran prematurely and while plans are still in the works, there is not specific date yet.

“The Wire” has been critically acclaimed as one of the best television series of all times while also being highly under appreciated. It never won any awards but consistently sits on every “Best of” list. The show is a crime drama that follows the struggles of police and journalists in Baltimore . Each season introduced a different facet of the city of Baltimore: the illegal drug trade, the seaport system, the city government and bureaucracy, the school system, and the print news media.
