New “The Blob” Film Will Be More Science Based

The Blob

One of the more memorable aspects of 1958’s science fiction thriller “The Blob” is that it was more fiction than science. If somehow you made it through life without seeing the moving or knowing about it, the film followed a gelatinous alien amoeba that terrorizes the town.

Recently, a project was announced to reboot the iconic film from director Simon West and reportedly, he plans to take a more scientific approach to the concept.

According to a report from Nerdist, West is planning to put more science into the gaps that the original “Blob” left out. Namely some of the REALLY big ones like where the Blob came from and how it functions as an alien creature. He described his project to be “more along the lines of Alien and Predator and things like that- much more science-based, the way Jurassic Park made you believe you could bring back dinosaurs with a bit of DNA from a mosquito.”

There is no word yet on an anticipated release date for “The Blob” and more details are expected to follow over the next few months.
