I mean we all wanted a Roadhouse but never did we think it would be THIS AWESOME. Announced last week, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey will star in the MGM reboot of the 1980’s classic Patrick Swayze. Even better, Rousey will be playing the equivalent of Swayze’s role as Dalton in the film, set to begin production in 2016.
Roadhouse was originally released in 1989 and has since been a cult class thanks to Swayze playing a “philosophically aware, tai-chi wielding bouncer” at a rowdy Missouri bar, The Double Deuce.
Variety reports that Rousey reached out to Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, gaining Niemi’s blessing for the role.
There is no anticipated release date yet.
