Cate Blanchett in Talks to Join All-Female Ocean’s Eleven

According to reports from The Playlist, Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett, is in talks to join an upcoming all female Ocean’s Eleven reboot, which Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Pleasantville) will direct and produce. She would join fellow Oscar winner Sandra Bullock who has already joined the cast. The report says that Blanchett would star as the equivalent of Brad Pitt’s Rusty to Bullock’s ringleader. The reboot is tentatively titled Ocean’s Ocho.

The all female reboot of Ocean’s Eleven is supposed to be a continuation of the George Clooney-led films, with Bullock playing Danny Ocean’s ex-con sister. With help from her right-hand woman (Blanchett), she’ll form a team of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner.

Unfortunately Clooney is not expected to make a cameo at the time though there is talk he would appear if there were sequels.

Shooting on the reboot is expected to begin this fall. Right now there is no anticipated release date and no other news of stars attached.

Sandra Bullock to Lead All-Female Reboot of Ocean’s Eleven

According to a report by ThePlaylist, Ocean’s Eleven is getting another reboot this time with an all-female cast lead by Sandra Bullock.

Bullock is reportedly partnering with former Ocean’s star, George Clooney, to develop the female cast version of the popular franchise.

Bullock and Clooney have previously worked together leading to a very successful partnership forming between the two. They appeared in Gravity and, most recently, the political satire Our Brand is Crisis. Now, Clooney is using his pull as one of the stars of the Ocean’s trilogy with late producer Jerry Weintraub and director Steven Soderbergh to jumpstart production on the newest reboot.

There are rumors that Clooney will return for a cameo as Danny Ocean from the trilogy.

Screenwriter Olivia Milch (Queen & Country, Little Women) has reportedly already drafted a screenplay, and Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Pleasantville) is on board to direct.

It is unclear where the new gender-swapped Ocean’s Eleven will fit in the franchise, whether it will be a reboot or another film in the series.
