If you’re in trouble, who is better to call than Saul? It appears that the criminal lawyer will be getting his own spin-off series from popular AMC show “Breaking Bad.”
Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk, is continuing his work protecting the guilty in the show which comes from “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan. When asked about the potential spin-off, Gilligan said there was definitely something in the works.
“Hopefully we’ll get it up and running. I’d love to see that happen. It’s not a done deal yet, but it’s definitely something we’re full speed ahead on trying to get going.”
The final episodes of “Breaking Bad” are set to begin airing next month and the spin-off for Saul would come at the end of that series. Odenkirk confirmed he would reprise his role but another familiar character could also return. There has been talk about bringing Gus Fring into the series as well.
“Any chance I get to work with Giancarlo again, I would jump at the opportunity. He is a wonderful actor and such a sweet guy,” said Odenkirk.
Giancarlo Esposito played Gus, the meth kingpin, and won an Emmy for his work in “Breaking Bad.” However, bringing Gus back would likely mean the spin-off would have to serve as a prequel given the fate of the character in the season 4 finale.
While AMC plans to move forward, nothing concrete has been confirmed other than initial plans.
