After beating “The Last of Us” (and then watching my boyfriend beat it) I found myself missing the beautifully rendered post-apocalyptic world. So, I wait (kind of) patiently for the DLC to be released. The first DLC announced was a multiplayer map pack called Abandoned Territories. The maps will include locales named Suburbs, which is plagued by random dust storms; Bus Depot, reported to include features like wild giraffes; Hometown, a moonlit environment geared towards stealth; and Bookstore, a two-story level, which adds “a highly unusual dose of vertical gameplay”.
The pack will be out October 15th.
I and players everywhere are still waiting on the single player DLC which will apparently not be released for a few more months.
“This is an ambitious story with strong ties into the narrative of The Last of Us,” wrote Naughty Dog’s Eric Monacelli on the Playstation Blog. “We just wrapped up a long casting process for a new character, and we’re starting our performance capture shoot next week. The single-player DLC is currently planned for release around the December-January timeframe.”
A third (and final) DLC release will also be multiplayer-focused but no more details have been released.
If you are a season-pass holder, 60 bonus character customisation items have been added to the multiplayer mode.
