The Xbox One launched just last week and Microsoft has officially announced the launch was the biggest one in Xbox history. More than one million consoles sold through worldwide in less than 24 hours – surpassing day one Xbox 360 sales and setting a new record.
Despite the success, the Xbox One has not yet outsold the Sony Playstation 4 which launched on November 15. The PS4 sold more than one million units in North America alone and it still has to hit Europe and Latin America on November 29.
Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, Xbox, said,
“We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world. Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season.”

While this is good news for Microsoft, I have to say that Sony still has a hand up in their competition at this point. It will be interesting to see how their sales progress over this holiday season, though. That will be the biggest judge on who is winning and who is losing.
