Nintendo Reveals GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U

By on May 31, 2014

The collective internet can now yell simultaneously, “FINALLY!” Nintendo has released an officially licensed adapter that will allow us the play “Super Smash Bros.” with GameCube controllers for the upcoming Wii U release.

The adapter will allow you to connect up to four GameCube controllers. Nintendo has not announced whether WaveBird wireless controllers are supported, or if GameCube controller support is planned for other Wii U games.

If you don’t want to use the GameCube controller, you can choose the Wii U Pro controller, Wii classic controllers, or the upcoming Wired Fight Pad.

The Wii U version of “Super Smash Bros.” is expected to launch this winter.
