Possible “Star Wars: Episode VIII” Director Revealed?

According to The Hollywood Reported, Star Wars: Episode VIII will be moving forward with director Rian Johnson. The director is reportedly in talks with LucasFilm to both write and direct the 8th installment in the Star Wars franchise.

THR says that Johnson will writing Episode IX as well.

Johnson is well known for his recent foray into science fiction films with Looper staring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He also directed Brick which won a the Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. He later directed The Brothers Bloom in 2008. 

LucasFilm has not yet confirmed that Johnson will direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. 

Currently the franchise is continue with Episode VII via J.J. Abrams.
